ROBERT BOYLE
ROBERT BOYLE is a physicist and
chemist. He was born in Munster, Ireland year 1627. But spent most of his life
in England. He made experiment with air and volume, and find air pump.
His research about air and
another gaseous enable formulating what is now we know as Boyle’s law in year
1662.
This law states that at certain
temperature, Volume of a gas is inversely proportional to its pressure. For
example, of volume of gas is multiplied by two then its pressure remain half.
One of his important contribution
for chemistry is his limitation about element as material that cannot be
divided chemically. This becomes base of modern chemistry.
