James Watt

James Watt

James Watt is a founder and engineer from Scotland which famous with his vapour engine. He was born on January 19th, 1736, in Greenock, Scotland. When he worked at Glasgow University, he asked to repair a vapour engine of England engineer discovery Thomas Savery Thomas Newcomen.

He made many improvement to that device, and finally succeed to make vapour engine more favourable by people than Newcomen made. This vapour engine is used to pump water out mining.

The first petent right for watt in year 1769, involves this device and another developments in Newcomen engine, such as vapour mantel, oil lubricatin, and cylinder isolation to keep high temperature and important for maximum efficiency. At that time Watt is friend of John Roebuck the English founder which gave cost for Watt research.

In year 1775, Roebuck interest is taken by English factory entrepreneur Matthew Boulton, the owner of engine factory Soho in Birmingham. Matthew and Watt started to make vapour engine.

Watt continue his research and succeed creating mechanism that change motion of his vapour engine so can revolve wheel. His new engine then is connected to all kind of device. He created also velocity controller so the engine can revolve regularly.

In year 1880 Watt resigned from Matthew company and after that he dedicated himself at all for his research. He succeed designing train rail, and his discovery is used to make transport vehicle of vapour powered. Beside Watt still contributed many important discovery in science.

Watt died on August 19th, 1819 in Heatfield England. His Name is conserved as unit of power, Watt
